The Business Analyst, reporting to the Operations Manager, holds a crucial role in providing analytical and problem-solving support to programs, Service Delivery, and the Operations Unit at DCS. In this capacity, you will be responsible for documenting business requirements and overseeing the necessary changes to meet those requirements.Your responsibilities encompass the creation or modification of existing systems, forms, and procedures, with a direct impact on projects aimed at advancing departmental outcomes and strategic priorities, ultimately serving the most vulnerable population in Nova Scotia.

Primary Responsibilities:

In this role, we rely on your expertise to assess business needs and opportunities, generate viable options, and define recommended solutions by:- Collaborating with clients, evaluating current solutions/services, and suggesting solutions.- Supporting the implementation of solutions.- Leading the preparation and documentation of business requirements, functional requirements, business cases, workflow processes, and data models.- Designing and developing business requirements for solution changes.- Developing and maintaining business processes and instructional material.You will collaborate with both staff and our technology team to ensure changes are meticulously monitored, tested, evaluated, and poised for implementation.Qualifications and Experience:To excel as our next Business Analyst, you should hold a bachelor’s degree and possess five years of relevant experience. It is advantageous if you have experience in:- Supporting case management systems.- Release Management.- User Acceptance Testing (UAT).- Certification or training in business analysis is highly desirable.Critical to your success is your ability to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and risk assessment when making decisions and recommending solutions. In this dynamic and fast-paced environment with stringent deadlines, your flexibility, multitasking ability, and capacity to manage a high volume of business are crucial.You are an effective communicator, both in written and oral forms, and exhibit exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with computers and various software, including the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint), is mandatory.We will assess these qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following methods: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interviews, and reference checks.
